TripAdvisor has announced the winners of the Travelers’ Choice Hotel Awards 2018, ie those facilities that have been chosen by travelers worldwide based on millions of reviews and opinions. With 166 hotels in the rankings and 211 awards received, Italy is the only country to win two gold medals in world rankings.
At the sixteenth edition, the Travelers’ Choice® Hotel Awards have awarded 8,095 facilities worldwide in 94 countries and 8 geographical areas in the categories Best Hotels, Best Luxury Hotels, Best Rates, Best Small Hotels, Best Service, Best Guest Houses and B & Bs, Best Romantic Hotels, Best Family Hotels, Best All-Inclusive Hotels. This year the new category Best Hotel for Price / Quality Ratio was also introduced: to be classified in this category hotels must have at least four stars, a score of 4 out of 5 on TripAdvisor and their average annual rate must be at least 20 % compared to the destination’s average fare and cannot exceed $ 300 per night.
The regions that have distinguished themselves in this edition are Trentino Alto Adige, Campania and Tuscany for having collected the highest number of awards at national level. Trentino Alto Adige and Campania win, on an equal footing, the primacy of the most awarded regions with 40 awards each, while Tuscany ranks behind them with 25 appearances in the rankings of the awards.
In 2018 Italy is first in the categories of Best Hotel for Families with the White Horse in Ortisei , which confirms the record for 6 consecutive years, and the Hotel Villa Sirena in Casamicciola Terme which wins the top position of the Top 10 in the Best Rates category .
The Belvedere of Riccione is instead the Best Hotel in Europe and ranks sixth in the Top 10 world. At the national level, in addition to dominating the ranking of the Best Hotels, the Belvedere also earned the highest step of the podium in the Best Service category, in which it also distinguished itself at European level by conquering the fourth position. Instead, in Cambodia, in Siem Reap, the Best Hotel in the world : the Viroth’s Hotel, which makes its entry into the world rankings directly in first position.
